Title: DK animations...
Vez - January 27, 2008 04:38 AM (GMT)
I made a couple of Donkey Kong animations, So can you please rate 'em?

Giddy Fork - January 27, 2008 04:42 AM (GMT)
The quality was severely lowered...but they look pretty smooth :)

I'm still surprised I made a descent animation.... Is there a way I can get rid of the color loss?
Giddy Fork - January 27, 2008 04:46 AM (GMT)
What program did you use?
Vez - January 27, 2008 04:48 AM (GMT)
Paint sadly. Thats all I ever use. I do use GIMP for image editing most some of the time.
Giddy Fork - January 27, 2008 05:01 AM (GMT)
You used paint to animate??
Vez - January 27, 2008 05:05 AM (GMT)
Yes, But I really use Microsoft Gif Animator... But I take the pictures using Paint.

Paint + GIF = Massive colour phail.
That's yer problem.

There's actually a way you can use Game Maker to reduce color loss. Make a new sprite, set the size to the size of the image (64 x 64, in your case) and paste all the frames from Paint into the sprite animation. Then do File > Save as Gif. Then open the file with Gif Animator and set the appropriate loop and duration settings.
Anyway, they look pretty good. ;)

I think I'm gonna get rid of GM on my computer. It's just taking up room. I haven't used it in like 3 months. Maybe more...
Bostwik - January 27, 2008 05:22 PM (GMT)
I use animation shop 3.
It's pretty much the best, because you can make transparent images if you know how.

How much money does it cost?
Egocentric Utensil - January 27, 2008 05:25 PM (GMT)
You can make animations transparent in Gif Animator too. Check "Transparency" and choose the color to be made transparent.

But the banner I want transparent isn't Gif =P
Giddy Fork - January 27, 2008 05:30 PM (GMT)
You actually might be able to animate in GIMP if it's anything like photoshop...
Vez - January 27, 2008 05:33 PM (GMT)
Well I switched the banner over to GIF and then made it transparent, but the problem is, is that not all of what I want transparent is the same color of white. *slaps head*
Giddy Fork - January 27, 2008 05:37 PM (GMT)
I doubt you have to save the frames as gifs, try a .bmp.

It doesn't necessarily have to be an animation. For a banner to be transparent, it HAS to be a gif.
I only used GIF animator for a short time, so I don't really remember how it worked.

Or a PNG... though I'm still uncertain how to do that exactly.

It's easy to do in PSP, it's just like a save image thing.
You should be able to do it in photoshop. Look for like image optimizer or something
Vez - January 27, 2008 10:07 PM (GMT)
I found a way to make the animations without color loss. Just save them as GIF in GIMP.

The only thing with transparent PNGs is that they don't show up transparent in all browsers.

Photoshop + Unfreez for me. Works well enough.

Dunno if my version can do it, but I'll check...
LZ, didn't you get your copy of PS from me? Or, indirectly at least... shouldn't you have Imageready with it, though? It does anims (as I only recently found out, lol, I thought it was useless :P ), and better than UnFreez does...

From poli, remember? But I guess I'll have to check that out.
Giddy Fork - January 28, 2008 01:57 AM (GMT)
Say "Save for web" in photoshop and then you can make each layer of the file a frame in the animation. And yes, it has transparency.
