Title: Explosive Anger
Description: Where did all the cool go?
dragonDOTbrave - December 19, 2007 02:10 AM (GMT)
I have a sudden urge to bring chaos and wrath upon the housing department at my school. LET IT BURN IN HELL!

I feel better now.

The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it.

Speaking of explosive anger, chemistry.

o.o
I love my job, but every once in a while I have to take care of a kid who'd I'd rather punch the lights out of.
And I would, too. If not for a little thing called the 'paycheck'.
Geez, a lot of parents suck at parenting these days.

I think I'm doing pretty good for a 17 year old with a wife and a baby, I dunno what you're talking about.

Incidentally, I live in the city with the highest rate of teen pregnancies in the entire United States.

Well, the majority of my dormmates are not very brilliant. The school warned us that the smoke detectors are very sensitive, so it was best not to use some sort of an open flame.
However, someone got so stoned that she set off the fire alarm.
And I lulz.

The following is a major rant (along with profanity) running on Bawls and may be inaccurate of the reality. So, cheerio!
I’m pissed. It’s rare to see someone like me get pissed. The only time I got pissed is when someone comes by, takes my work, and claims that is his. But the thief got screwed in the face and somewhere along the lines committed suicide. The end.
I’m talking about the art contests on BZP. At the first few works, the art contests ran pretty smoothly, because there was a panel of judges, and the winner was decided by the skill and creativity pertaining to the theme. People got what they deserved, and I admired their efforts and strived to be up there with them, if not better.
But when the panel of judges got dismissed and replaced by a member’s vote, the contests slowly started to turn into a literal Algernon hole, well, maybe when majority of veteran artists left the forums for a life, died, banned, or disappeared off the face of the earth “Carmen Sandiego” style. Kids flocked to their popular friends, hoping for some dick suckage, leaving majority of the remaining skilled artists left in the dark.
I’m not quite so sure what the problem is that left the General Art section as a mere appendage that should be cut off from the rest of the BZP society (Aside from the fan-created games section). However, I do know what the contest is seriously lacking. Mostly it needs an interesting theme or a challenge, in which it should be complex enough to give experienced artists’ gears running, but dumb down enough to let the kids comprehend it. Maybe the host should try different outlook in terms of equality. Try a monochrome theme for once, it might test not how “coolio” or flashy (as if it came out of Halo 3’s shiny Algernon), but how well kids can learn the importance of values and maybe display some sort of - I don’t know - skills?
Because every bloody young adult who has bloody Photoshop abuse filters like it is Algernon.
And I will load my shotgun at such atrocity as my zombie plan.
Second of all, the polls needs to shot in the face and buried alive, and the host should resurrect the panel of judges that had been absent for 11 contests straight. There will be no whining or Algernoning about the popularity contest, as so much as skills, and people will take it as is. Period.
Hell, I’ll gladly sacrifice my ability as a contestant and be a fair judge, who can decide on which entry deserve it by how well it portrays the theme, the uniqueness, and the skills necessary to execute it. I mean skills not just on how Algernon well an artist can shade (Everybody can Algernoning shade, just many choose not to.), but on the composition and the dynamics of it all. The coolness or “fad” factor should not play into the judging whatsoever, so people who had a good idea and a competent composition won’t get Algernoned over by someone with “better” character design, in which may or may not lack foreshortened anatomy, with Algernon background that doesn’t adhere to the said theme.
Finally, time. Extend the contest for three weeks. Or schedule the contest at both summer and winter vacations, or just around September and February, when school starts on a fresh plate, so we won’t get failures like AC# 15.
That is all I have to say, so I’m going to sew my mouth shut, so people won’t whine about the constructive criticisms I would give them if I didn’t sew my mouth shut. :\

...I'm with you.
Although I did not know that there was originally a panel of judges. Seems to be a much better idea IMO.
