Yeah, I know. Again. Anyways, this one's definently not as crappy as the last one. I wrote part of it a couple of months ago and finished it tonight after a friend and I had a discussion about the subject that inspired this. Comments/suggestions/etc. appreciated.




Some kind of fantasy
What kind of fantasy is this?
Staring at a field full of fireflies

Sunrise to sunset all she ever does is dream of roses
Sunset to sunrise, all of this too late for roses
Her heart's alive, but it beat itself to death
Too many times she thought she found herself
In someone else's eyes
In someone else's eyes

She's falling asleep and she can't catch herself
It hurts like hell to watch her rest her head
She's falling asleep
And you can't do anything to catch her

You can see it in her eyes

Always and forever
She knows those words too well
But they sound so beautiful
Like the song the firefly won't sing

You can see it in her eyes
When she says goodbye
Like the dance of the fireflies
Sparkling like mystery
In the moment before twilight

Rising and falling
These tiny stars in this tiny dream
Glowing like fallen
Stars that tell me this is not okay
This is not okay

The sun is set
But you can still see
The light lingering in the western sky
Lingering as one last chance
Tonight she's blinded
Her eyes are bright, but she can't see a thing

She's flickering on and off like the light of a firefly
It won't last long, she'll fly away before you can say goodnight
Goodnight, goodnight, firefly

You can see it in her eyes
When she says goodnight
Dancing by and by
I can't catch this firefly
Though I wish I could tonight

Look back over your shoulder
You'll never see this again
